I beleive its important to note the passing of our former mayor of Calgary and premier, Ralph Klein on Good Friday. I was always impressed that he spoke his mind and said out loud what many people were thinking. And the fact he took AB from a $23 Billion deficit to balancing the books was pretty impressive too. We will miss Ralph.

Did you know that 'sometimes' there is a property tax assistance form for low-income seniors? Not every year and only if the provincial budget allows for it, but it looks like 2011 may be one of those years. We have to wait until May 2011 when tax notices are sent out, but watch for it--and call 311 for more information. Many seniors are paper rich and income poor and this program is an option for those in our community.

Open Houses - Some realtors swear by them and others say its a complete waste of time. Who is right?? I beleive the truth is somewhere in between. Some communities, like my new listing in McKenzie Lake are busy and vibrant young communities with alot of activity. Listings are gradually coming down, now at 8387 today--we were at over 9200 just a couple of weeks ago. Listings are going the 'right' way, which should translate into stabilizing prices, creating that elusive BALANCED MARKET.
